Neuromuscular dentistry looks beyond the traditional focus of dentistry to the function of the muscles and joints that control bite alignment, jaw position, chewing, swallowing and posture. These musculoskeletal issues can give rise to a wide range of medical symptoms. Dentists often use the term "temporomandibular disorders" or TMD to describe this spectrum of conditions. Dr Adrian Kat has an interest in neuromuscular dentistry and can diagnose and correct these problems.
